Present continuous (I am doing)

หมายความว่า เขากำลังพูดขณะขับรถอยู่

รูปแบบของ Present continuous

Am / is / are + ing

I am (=I'm)	driving
he/she/it is (=he's / she's / it's)	working
you/we/they are (=you're / we're / they're)	doing (....)

I am doing something = ฉันกำลังทำอะไรบางอย่างอยู่ กำลังทำอยู่ และยังไม่เสร็จ

Please don't make so much noise. I'm trying to work. (ไม่ใช่ I try)

'Where's Sarah?' 'She's having a shower.' (ไม่ใช่ She has a shower)

Let's go out now. It isn't raining anymore. (ไม่ใช่ It doesn't rain)

(ณ ปาร์ตี) Hi, Jane. Are you enjoying the party ? (ไม่ใช่ Do you enjoy)

What's all that noise? What's going on ? (หรือจะพูดว่า What's happening?)

แต่บางที การใช้รูปนี้ก็ไม่จำเป็นต้องเกิดขึ้นขณะที่พูดจริงๆก็ได้ เช่น สตีฟกำลังคุยกับเพือนทางโทรศัพท์ สตีฟพูดว่า

I'm reading a really good book at the moment.

ในที่นี้ สตีฟไม่ได้กำลังอ่านหนังสืออยู่ แต่เขาหมายถึงว่าเขาได้อ่านมาพักหนึ่งละ แต่ยังไม่จบ ช่วงนี้กำลังอ่านหนึ่งสือนี้อยู่

ณ เวลาที่เราพูดแบบนี้ ก็ไม่ได้หมายความว่าเคทกำลังนั่งอยู่ในห้องเรียนอะไร

นอกจากนี้ เรายังสามารถใช้ได้กับคำจำพวก today / this week / this year etc.

A: You're working hard today. (ไม่ใช่ You work hard today)

B: Yes, I have a lot to do.

The company I work for isn't doing so well this year.

และ เราก็ยังสามรถใช้ได้กับเหตุการณ์ที่กำลังเกิดขึ้น เปลี่ยนแปลง ณ ช่วงปัจจุบันนี้ โดยใช้กับคำจำพวก
